University Scholarship
I grew up in a small rural village far from civilization with dirt roads that become very difficult during the rainy season. I never gave up despite hardships — I attended a school 38 kilometers from my village, and every Saturday and Sunday I returned home to help my parents because only the two of them were working. I wanted to help ease their burden.
I dream of studying nursing. I want to complete my bachelor's degree and return to care for hill tribe people. When I graduate I will have a career and income to support my parents and repay their kindness.
I started helping my parents with farming from age 11. At 17 I came to work in Chiang Mai city during school breaks — I worked at a petrol station for 2 months then returned to study. At 18, after completing Grade 12, I came back to Chiang Mai and worked as a daily 7-Eleven employee. I will continue until June then go back to study.
My aunt is very devout — every Wednesday and Sunday she takes me to help with church work. I am also a member of a public volunteer team that donates goods to the underprivileged both within Thailand and along the Thai-Myanmar border. I once helped resuscitate a drowning victim who had lost consciousness.
I am about to begin my 1st year in the Faculty of Nursing. I want to complete my studies so I can return to help hill tribe people living far from civilization. I want to be a good, high-quality nurse for every patient.
