Grit Story

I'm a single mother with a special needs child who has ADHD, developmental delay, and autism spectrum disorder. I work as a teaching assistant and tutor, but all of my son's doctors and therapies are private, and I can't afford his university tuition. I'm the second of four children.

Academic Path

I want to get my university degree so I can open my own daycare and care for more children with special needs. I also want to own a home for myself and my son.

Work History

I started working at age 11 as a bagger in a supermarket, at 16 I worked at Burger King, and at 18 I started at CONAFE where I worked for 2 years. I then worked as a waitress at Crown Paradise, and afterwards I have been working in the education sector, working two shifts.

Community Impact

I have been involved in Catholic church dance for 3 years and I give free classes to children of single mothers and those from low-income families.

Future Aspirations

I am studying education to open my own daycare and support single mothers in caring for their children, leaving them in a warm and family-like environment. I also plan to work in schools, either public or private, and teach children.
