Grit Story

First I must say that I grew up as a hill tribe person on the mountain with very little income — mostly subsistence farming with no stable earning profession. My family has no money to fund my education. Today only my father remains. I look for work every school break but it is never enough for daily living expenses.

Academic Path

The path I have thought about and dreamed of is succeeding at the university level. I want to be a good teacher, a good role model for children. I want to impart knowledge to mountain children who have very limited access to education.

Work History

Most of my work has been part-time. I use school break time to look for work to save money for my studies. I do this every break period.

Community Impact

Most of my community contributions are volunteer work — helping with merit-making and temple activities, community road work, assisting professors after hours, educating children, and I used to be a temple boy.

Future Aspirations

I dream of succeeding in a good career. I want to teach and provide opportunities. On the mountain, opportunities are very scarce. I want a good salary and to give my family a comfortable life — they have worked their whole lives.
